Armadale Railway PSP
About this cycle route
The Armadale Railway PSP is a 30 km cycling route following the railway corridor from Armadale. Classified as challenging, this longer urban-fringe ride suits experienced cyclists after a solid workout. Well signposted throughout, it's a direct, purpose-built path that takes you beyond the suburban sprawl and into quieter terrain around Perth's south-eastern edge.
Highlights
- 30 km point-to-point railway corridor route
- Dedicated shared path, away from traffic
- Well signposted throughout the ride
- Suburban-to-rural transition over distance
- 1.5–2 hour round-trip challenge ride
What to expect
Smooth, flat sealed surface typical of Perth's PSPs, following the disused or active rail reserve. Minimal gradient, so challenge comes from distance and pace rather than hills. Expect intermittent tree shade from native and planted vegetation along the corridor, but long exposed sections in direct sun. Path is clearly marked and easy to follow.
Good to know
- Open to cyclists
- Waymarked route
Carry plenty of water for a 1.5–2 hour ride; summer heat is intense on open sections. Wear a helmet and bring a repair kit. Check conditions after rain, as PSPs can occasionally flood. Morning or late-afternoon rides avoid peak afternoon heat. Suitable for hybrid or road bikes with decent tyres.
