What to expect
Uneven forest floor with roots and rocks, open coastal sections on firm sand and rough ground. Elevation changes are moderate to substantial as the trail descends to and climbs from beaches and gullies. Some steep sections near cliff lines. Signposting is consistent but you'll spend most days in semi-remote terrain with limited shelter. Shade varies: forest sections are shaded; coastal and heathland stretches are exposed to wind and sun.
Good to know
- Waymarked route
Carry at least 2 litres water daily and know water source locations. Start in spring (Aug–Oct) for wildflowers and moderate temperatures; summer heat and bushfire risk make this season risky. Wear sturdy boots with good ankle support for rocky ground. Plan accommodation or campsites ahead. Check conditions and fire bans before departing. This is a multi-day commitment—fitness and experience essential.
