SVLP3 Swan Valley Scenic Loop (North East)
About this cycle route
The Swan Valley Scenic Loop (North East) is a challenging 17 km cycle route that winds through the rolling terrain north and east of Perth's wine region. Expect a mix of road and off-road sections with sustained climbs, rewarding views across the valley, and passes through bushland and farmland characteristic of the region. Best ridden in cooler months when the heat won't sap your energy on the longer ascents.
Highlights
- Sustained climbs test fitness and technique
- Valley views across Swan Valley wine country
- Mix of sealed roads and unsealed trail sections
- Signposted throughout for confident navigation
- Farmland and bushland scenery on loop
What to expect
A mix of sealed and unsealed surfaces with several pronounced climbs that will demand good fitness; the terrain is rolling with exposed sections and stretches through native bushland. Signposting is clear. Some segments are shaded by scattered trees, but expect open farmland with little shelter. Suitable for experienced cyclists comfortable with varied terrain.
Good to know
- Open to cyclists
- Waymarked route
Carry plenty of water—exposed climbs and full sun on farmland increase dehydration risk. Winter and spring (May–Sept) are ideal; avoid summer heat and bushfire-risk months (Nov–Feb). Wear a helmet and ride-suitable shoes. Check conditions after rain as unsealed sections can become slippery.
