What to expect
Soft sand underfoot throughout makes walking slower and more energy-demanding than firmer trails. The track winds through low coastal heath with minimal shade, so exposure to sun and wind is constant. Gradients are generally gentle but the sand surface itself adds difficulty. Signposting should be followed carefully given the sandy landscape.
Good to know
Carry at least 2–3 litres of water; there are no reliable water sources on route. Wear sturdy walking shoes with good ankle support for sand stability. Sun protection (hat, sunscreen) is essential. Avoid December–February due to heat. Spring (Aug–Oct) offers wildflowers and cooler temperatures. Check local conditions before setting out.
