Cape Naturaliste Track
About this footpath
A short, easy walk on the Capes region's western edge, Cape Naturaliste Track is ideal for a quick outing from Dunsborough. The track takes you through coastal heath and granite outcrops to the Cape itself, offering Indian Ocean views and a sense of the limestone and granite geology that defines this stretch of WA's south-west coast.
Highlights
- Granite outcrops and coastal heath landscape
- Indian Ocean views from the Cape
- Quick, family-friendly walk near Dunsborough
- Spring wildflower displays (August–October)
- Limestone and granite formations underfoot
What to expect
Firm track over granite and compacted earth with gentle undulation. Well signposted and exposed in places—little shade from trees, so sun protection matters. The 1.5 km distance and easy grade make it accessible for most fitness levels. Some rocky sections require steady footing but nothing steep or technical.
Good to know
Carry water, especially in warmer months. Summer brings heat and bushfire risk; check conditions before visiting November–March. Wear sturdy shoes for uneven granite. Spring (August–October) shows wildflowers at their best. The walk is fully accessible year-round, but early morning or late afternoon suits hot days better.
