What to expect
Unpaved, undulating ground underfoot with sections of rough track and open areas. The challenging grade reflects cumulative distance and terrain variability rather than extreme steepness. Navigation requires attention; carry map and compass or GPS. Expect limited shade on exposed sections and sun exposure in open country. Track condition varies with recent weather.
Good to know
Carry at least 2–3 litres of water; no reliable sources en route. Wear sturdy, ankle-supporting boots and sun protection. Avoid summer (November–March) due to heat and bushfire risk. Start early. Check fire danger and track condition before departing. Not suitable for young children or inexperienced bushwalkers.
