What to expect
A straightforward track following the gas pipeline easement across flat to gently undulating red earth and sparse scrubland. Underfoot is a mix of compacted dirt and loose stones typical of the region. Signposting is basic; navigation is simple as you follow the corridor. Virtually no shade, so exposed to sun and wind. The distance and openness demand fitness and water management.
Good to know
Carry 2+ litres of water; summer heat and lack of shelter make this walk risky in warm months. Wear sturdy walking boots, hat and sunscreen. Autumn to spring (April–September) is ideal. Check conditions locally in Kalgoorlie before setting out. Mobile reception may be patchy; tell someone your plans. No dogs restrictions are typical in regional reserves.
