The Kattamordo Heritage Trail is a challenging 31 km walk near Kalamunda, best tackled as a full-day outing or split across two days. The route combines bushwalking through jarrah and marri forest typical of the Perth Hills with heritage landmarks that trace the area's cultural significance. Well signposted throughout, this is a serious walk suited to experienced bushwalkers with good fitness and proper preparation.

What to expect
A long, hilly walk on natural bush track with some rocky sections and granite outcrops typical of the Kalamunda area. Expect sustained elevation changes, shaded forest sections alternating with open woodland. The trail is well signposted, but navigation will demand attention over the full distance. Wear sturdy bushwalking boots and allow six to seven hours minimum.

Carry at least two litres of water—resupply points are limited on this remote route. Start early to finish in daylight. Spring (Aug–Oct) offers cooler temps and wildflowers; avoid summer heat and bushfire risk. Mobile reception may be poor. Dogs are not permitted in national parks or conservation areas.
