What to expect
Uneven, unpaved ground with loose stones and roots underfoot. Steep climbs and descents feature throughout, so good leg fitness is essential. Expect minimal shade on exposed sections; the track is less formal than maintained walking trails. Navigation is straightforward if signposted, but steep terrain demands careful footwork and concentration.
Good to know
Wear sturdy hiking boots with good ankle support and grip. Carry at least 1–2 litres of water; there are no reliable sources on the track. Avoid walking during or immediately after heavy rain when the unpaved surface becomes slippery and treacherous. Summer heat makes this walk uncomfortable; autumn and spring are ideal. Check conditions before heading out.
