Wadandi Track
About this footpath
The Wadandi Track is a challenging 31 km gravel footpath that winds through the karri forests and coastal heath of the Margaret River region. Spanning nearly seven hours, this multi-stage walk showcases the South-West's diverse terrain, from tall timber to open bushland overlooking the Indian Ocean. Well-suited to experienced walkers seeking a substantial day walk or overnight option.
Highlights
- Karri forest canopy and tall timber landscape
- Coastal heath and ocean views
- Gravel surface through varied South-West terrain
- Full day's walk for fit, experienced bushwalkers
- Spring wildflowers (Aug–Oct)
What to expect
Gravel underfoot with sections of harder-packed track through forest and open heath. The walk features gentle to moderate gradients overall, though some undulation between forest gullies and ridge lines. Signposting is standard. Expect alternating shade under karri canopy and exposed heath; the coastal sections offer less shelter and greater sun exposure.
Good to know
Carry substantial water—at least 2–3 litres—and sun protection for exposed sections. Start early to finish before dark. Summer heat and bushfire risk make autumn and spring preferable. Sturdy walking boots grip best on gravel. Dogs are generally not permitted on national park tracks; check local access rules before visiting.
