What to expect
Unpaved track winding through dense karri and marri forest with variable gradient — expect some sustained climbs that justify the challenging rating. The track is reasonably well-defined but uneven underfoot; sturdy boots or trail shoes are essential. Sections offer dappled shade beneath tall trees, though some stretches are more open. Signposting is present but navigation requires care, particularly at intersections.
Good to know
- Open to cyclists
- Open to horse riders
Carry at least 2 litres of water; there are limited refill points along the route. The trail can be muddy after rain. Start early to complete the 3h 45m walk in daylight. Autumn through spring (March–October) offers cooler conditions; avoid summer when heat and bushfire risk peak. Dogs are generally not permitted. Suitable for mountain bikes with reasonable clearance.
