What to expect
Rough, rocky unpaved surface with frequent steep pitches and uneven ground throughout. The track demands care and good balance. Limited shade in sections; exposed to elements where forest thins. Signposting may be basic—navigation skills and a map are advisable. Muddy patches possible after rain. Gradient is relentless in places rather than a steady climb.
Good to know
Carry adequate water (2+ litres) and sun protection. Start early to finish before dark. Wear sturdy, gripped boots with ankle support. Spring (Aug–Oct) offers cooler conditions and wildflower interest. Summer brings bushfire risk—check conditions before visiting. Not suitable for casual walkers or young children. Mobile reception unreliable; inform someone of your route.
