About this track

Munday Brook Walk is a challenging 10 km dirt track loop near Kalamunda that follows a creek line through bushland east of Perth. The walk climbs steadily through jarrah and marri forest with creek crossings and some steep sections. Suited to fit walkers with good footwear and navigation sense, it's best done in cooler months to avoid heat and bushfire risk.

Highlights

  • Creek crossings through jarrah forest
  • Steady elevation gain; challenging terrain
  • Quiet bushland east of Perth
  • Dirt track with variable footing
  • Loop walk option from Kalamunda

What to expect

A dirt track that winds through dry sclerophyll forest with frequent ups and downs as it follows the creek line. Expect uneven, rocky footing in places and several creek crossings; some sections are steep. Signposting may be minimal in spots, so map or GPS is wise. Canopy cover is patchy—exposed to sun in open areas, shaded under tall forest.

Good to know

Carry 2–3 litres of water; the creek is not reliable for drinking. Wear sturdy boots with good ankle support for rocky terrain. Avoid summer months (December–February) due to heat and bushfire risk. Winter and spring (June–October) are ideal. Check local fire danger ratings before heading out. Allow extra time if navigation is unfamiliar.
