What to expect
Soft sand underfoot throughout, with steady rolling gradients typical of coastal dunes. The track is signposted but footing can be uneven where wind reshapes the sand. Exposure is high—little shade from trees—so the sun and wind are constant. Walking boots with good grip help on loose sand.
Good to know
Carry plenty of water; sun and heat reflect off sand in warmer months. Summer brings bushfire risk—check conditions before visiting. Spring (August to October) offers pleasant temperatures and wildflowers among the dunes. Avoid midday walks in December–February. The sandy surface slows progress, so allow extra time.
