What to expect
Unpaved surface with variable conditions—expect exposed rock, root systems and loose gravel depending on recent weather. Terrain is steep in sections with sustained climbs and descents throughout. The track is less heavily trafficked than major Perth trails; signposting may be minimal, so map and compass or GPS navigation is essential. Shade is intermittent under the canopy but some open sections expose you to sun and wind.
Good to know
Carry plenty of water (2+ litres) and sun protection. Summer heat and bushfire risk make cooler months (April–September) preferable. Wear sturdy boots with good ankle support and traction. Check track conditions before heading out, as storms or maintenance can affect access. This remote route suits confident navigators; less experienced walkers should consider more established trails.
