What to expect
Uneven unpaved surface with sections of loose gravel, rocks and exposed tree roots. Terrain is generally undulating through forest and open woodland with intermittent elevation changes; not steep but relentless in difficulty. Limited shade in some stretches. Signposting may be minimal—map and compass skills useful. Expect mud after rain and loose ground during dry periods.
Good to know
Carry at least two litres of water; no reliable sources along the track. Wear sturdy boots with good grip. Start early to finish before dark. Not suitable for wet conditions. Spring (Aug–Oct) is ideal. Summer carries bushfire risk—check fire danger levels before heading out. Mobile reception may be patchy.
