What to expect
A paved trail following historic railway corridors with rolling gradients—expect sustained climbing and descents that justify the challenging rating. The surface is firm underfoot or suitable for bike tyres. Signposting will guide you around the loop. Shade varies with sections through woodland and open reserve; exposure and wind can be significant on higher stretches.
Good to know
- Open to cyclists
- Open to horse riders
- Firm/surfaced — more accessible going
Carry at least 1.5–2 litres of water; little shade means sun exposure is real. Spring (Aug–Oct) offers wildflowers and milder temps; summer heat and bushfire risk make early starts essential. Wear sturdy boots or cycling shoes. Dogs are often restricted in reserves—check local rules. The paved surface suits most bikes and is manageable for horses.
