What to expect
Gravel underfoot throughout, uneven in places and sometimes loose. The terrain is gently undulating rather than steep, but the cumulative distance and duration demand steady pace and good fitness. Expect mixed sun exposure—some shaded forest sections and stretches of open bush. Signposting is present but confirm your route before setting out. No major elevation gains, but relentless gravel walking tests the legs.
Good to know
Carry at least 2–3 litres of water; refill opportunities may be limited. Wear sturdy walking boots with good ankle support for 37 km of gravel. Start very early to finish before dark. Spring (Aug–Oct) offers cooler conditions; summer heat and bushfire risk make this route safer in cooler months. Tell someone your itinerary.
