What to expect
Riding follows rail reserves with mixed surface conditions—some sealed, some gravel or packed earth typical of heritage corridors. Terrain is generally rolling rather than steep, but the distance and varied surfaces make it challenging. Signposting is consistent. Expect patches of shade from eucalypt woodland (jarrah and marri) interspersed with more open sections. Some sections may be exposed to sun and wind.
Good to know
- Open to cyclists
- Waymarked route
Carry ample water—59 km is a substantial ride and resupply may be limited along reserves. Wear sun protection and suitable cycling gear. Best ridden in cooler months (April–October); summer heat and bushfire risk make warm-season riding risky. Check conditions before departure. Ensure your bike is suitable for mixed surfaces. Start early to complete before dark.
