- Best in dry conditions for vehicle traction
What to expect
Deep sand throughout, requiring good 4WD handling and throttle control. The track is exposed to weather with limited tree cover in places. Gradient varies but expect undulating terrain typical of South-Western sand country. Minimal signposting; navigation skill and local knowledge recommended. No shade guarantee; sun exposure is real.
Good to know
High-clearance 4WD with recovery gear essential. Avoid after rain when sand becomes boggy and impassable. Carry water and fuel; no facilities on track. Summer heat and bushfire risk mean winter to early spring (May–Sept) is safer. Check local conditions at Northcliffe before attempting. Not suitable for standard vehicles.
