- Indian Ocean and Ningaloo Reef views
- Full-day challenge for fit walkers
- Rugged Cape Range terrain and geology
- Remote coastal landscape
What to expect
Ground surface underfoot—uneven, rocky limestone and compacted earth in places, with steady elevation changes across the range. Exposed ridges offer little shade; panoramic views reward the effort. The track is longer and more demanding than day walks in the area. Navigation is generally clear, but terrain is rough and progress slower than on formal paths.
Good to know
Carry 2–3 litres of water per person; no reliable sources en route. Summer (Nov–Apr) brings extreme heat and bushfire risk—avoid or start very early. Spring (Aug–Oct) is ideal. Sturdy walking boots or trail shoes essential for uneven ground. This is a long, rewarding outing; start early and allow plenty of daylight.
