What to expect
Soft, sandy track requiring steady pace and good footwear grip. Terrain rolls gently through low scrub with little shade; the track is open to sun exposure. Signposting is basic—navigation skills and a map are essential. The landscape is sparse and dry, typical of semi-arid coastal North West Cape. Sections may be corrugated or rutted.
Good to know
Carry 3–4 litres of water minimum; there are no reliable sources en route. Summer heat (Nov–Apr) is intense; walk early morning or avoid the season. Wear sturdy footwear for sand and loose rock. This is a remote track; travel with others and advise someone of your plans. Cooler months (May–Sep) are best. High-clearance vehicles can access it, but walking is legitimate.
