What to expect
Gravel surface with uneven footing; some sections may be rough or rutted, especially after rain. Terrain has moderate elevation changes. Expect limited shade in places, with exposure to sun and wind typical of semi-open country. Track is generally signposted but route-finding demands attention. Pace yourself—this is backcountry, not a maintained path.
Good to know
Carry at least 2 litres of water; no reliable water sources along route. Summer heat and bushfire risk make this a spring (Aug–Oct) or autumn priority. Wear sturdy footwear or appropriate bike shoes; gravel and rough ground demand good grip. Check conditions before setting out—wet weather can make gravel treacherous. Start early to finish in daylight.
