Blackboy Road
About this track
Blackboy Road is a challenging 12 km unpaved track near Collie that rewards walkers with a substantial half-day outing through varied terrain. The route demands solid fitness and navigation confidence on an undeveloped surface. This is a proper bushwalk in the South-West's jarrah and marri country, best tackled in cooler months when water crossings and heat aren't punishing.

What to expect
Uneven, rocky and rooty unpaved surface with variable grades and muddy sections after rain. Expect minimal to moderate signposting typical of undeveloped tracks—navigation skills helpful. Canopy from forest provides dappled shade, but exposure increases on open sections. Some steep pitches and creek crossings possible; terrain is genuinely rough underfoot.
Good to know
Carry at least 2 litres of water; creeks may be dry in summer. Solid boots essential on rocky ground. Avoid December–February heat and bushfire season. Spring (August–October) offers best conditions and wildflower displays. Check local conditions with Collie visitor information before departure.
