What to expect
A mix of packed earth, gravel and root-strewn track through open and forested sections. Frequent elevation changes with sustained climbs that test fitness and bike control on steeper pitches. Clear signposting throughout. Limited shade in open areas; denser cover under tall forest. Expect rough, rooty sections and potential washouts after rain.
Good to know
- Open to cyclists
- Waymarked route
Carry 2–3 litres of water and a repair kit; no facilities mid-ride. A full-suspension or hardtail mountain bike handles the terrain better than road or hybrid bikes. Avoid December–March when heat and bushfire risk are high. Spring wildflower season (Aug–Oct) is ideal. Check local conditions after heavy rain.
