What to expect
An unpaved track with steady but manageable gradient. Underfoot conditions vary with recent weather—expect ruts and occasional soft earth after rain. The karri forest provides good shade for much of the walk. Track is generally well-defined; follow signposting at the trailhead. Some exposed sections may be muddy in winter and spring.
Good to know
Carry at least 1–1.5 litres of water; shade helps but South-West weather changes quickly. Wear sturdy walking shoes with good grip. Spring (August–October) offers pleasant conditions and wildflowers; summer heat can be intense. Check for bushfire warnings in January–March. Dogs are typically not permitted in conservation reserves.
