What to expect
Uneven gravel underfoot with variable gradient — expect steady climbing and descending through karri woodland. The track is signposted but requires focus on foot placement. You'll experience patches of forest shade alongside more open sections; weather exposure increases on ridges. The terrain is demanding rather than steep, and ongoing maintenance means conditions vary.
Good to know
Carry at least 2 litres of water; springs and reliable sources are not guaranteed. Wear sturdy, well-gripped boots — the gravel and grades demand solid footwear. Avoid the track in summer heat and high bushfire danger periods. Spring (August–October) offers the best walking conditions. Check local conditions before departure, especially after rain.
