Highlights
- Karri forest canopy and South-West timber landscape
- Sustained elevation gain through challenging terrain
- Gravel track with natural forest character
- Quiet backcountry walk away from crowds
What to expect
Uneven gravel surface with roots and rocks. The track climbs steadily with variable gradient — expect plenty of uphill work and rough patches underfoot. Shade is good under karri canopy, but sections are more open. Signposting is basic; navigation skills and a map are useful. Drainage can be poor after rain, making footing slippery.
Good to know
Carry at least 2 litres of water; no facilities on the track. Wear sturdy walking boots with good ankle support for uneven gravel. Start early in cooler months (autumn, winter, spring). In summer, the heat and bushfire risk make this challenging walk unsafe. Check track conditions locally before heading out.
