What to expect
A gravel track with uneven footing, rocky sections and moderate to steep climbs. The forest provides dappled shade but exposure to sun in clearings. Track should be well signposted but is remote; navigation skills and attention are needed. Drainage can be poor after rain, creating soft patches. Not a gentle stroll—expect sustained effort and rugged conditions.
Good to know
Carry at least 2 litres of water; no reliable water sources on track. Wear sturdy walking boots or trail shoes for grip on loose gravel. Best walked March to May or September to November—avoid summer heat and bushfire season. Check local fire danger and track conditions with Pemberton visitor information before departure. Daylight hours essential; start early.
