Empire Road is a 3.6 km moderate track near Collie that follows an unpaved route through bushland. The walk takes around 50 minutes at a steady pace and suits those comfortable with uneven terrain and forest walking. It's a good half-hour outing if you're in the South-West coalfields region.

What to expect
The track is unpaved and moderately graded, so expect uneven ground, roots and possibly rocky sections. Some elevation change but nothing steep. You'll walk through jarrah and marri forest typical of the Collie area. The track should be signposted; check conditions before you go, as wet weather can make unpaved tracks boggy.
Good to know
Carry water and wear sturdy walking boots with good ankle support for uneven terrain. Summer walks carry bushfire risk—check fire danger ratings before heading out. Mornings are cooler in warmer months. The track is best walked in autumn through spring when temperatures are moderate and ground conditions are drier.
