What to expect
Gravel underfoot throughout, with steady elevation changes that justify the challenging rating. Sections may be rutted or softer after rain, so drainage and surface firmness vary with season. Expect mixed sun and shade from jarrah and marri forest, but some open patches. The track is signposted but follows a quieter route; navigation is straightforward if you've checked the map beforehand.
Good to know
Carry at least 2 litres of water — there are no reliable sources on the track. Wear sturdy boots with good grip for gravel. Avoid peak summer (December–February) due to heat and bushfire risk. Spring (August–October) offers pleasant temps and wildflower colour. Check conditions after heavy rain; the gravel can become slippery or boggy in places.
