What to expect
Gravel trail winding through dense south-western forest with regular climbs and descents across hilly terrain. Mostly shaded by tall timber, though exposure increases on open sections. Signposting is present but route-finding requires attention on a long, multi-day walk. Expect uneven gravel surface and variable trail width. Weather and ground conditions change with season; autumn and winter offer cooler temperatures suited to sustained walking.
Good to know
- Open to cyclists
Carry adequate water and supplies—resupply points are limited on this remote route. Start early in the day; allow 3–4 days minimum for comfortable walking. Spring (Aug–Oct) offers mild conditions and wildflowers; summer heat and bushfire risk make walking difficult. Sturdy walking boots essential on gravel. Check conditions and weather forecasts before departure. Dogs may be restricted; verify park rules beforehand.
