Ngank Yira Bidi is a challenging 9.7 km walk on Rottnest Island that rewards strong walkers with coastal views and island character. What to expect
Mostly sandy and compacted earth underfoot with some rocky sections. The route is moderately undulating—not steep but sustained. Exposed in many sections with little shade; coastal wind is common. Signposted throughout. Some sections feel remote despite the island's size. Footwear with good grip is essential on loose sand.

Carry at least 2 litres of water; there are no reliable water sources on the route. Sun protection is critical—hat, sunscreen and long sleeves recommended. Summer heat and bushfire risk mean autumn and spring are best. Check conditions before you go. Dogs are not permitted on Rottnest Island.
