What to expect
Uneven unpaved surface with roots, rocks and ruts typical of South-West forest tracks. Sustained climbing and descent throughout, with sections demanding good footwork or bike handling. Limited shade in places; some sections fully exposed to sky gaps. Signposting varies — carry a map and know the route before setting out, especially in poorer visibility.
Good to know
Carry at least 1–2 litres of water; no reliable sources on the track. Wear sturdy boots or trail shoes for grip on loose and rooty ground. Spring (Aug–Oct) offers wildflowers and cool conditions; summer heat and bushfire risk make winter–autumn preferable. Check fire restrictions before visiting.
