Rice Road is a challenging 7.4 km gravel track near Pemberton, suited to walkers with good fitness. The track winds through the forest country of the South-West, offering a solid workout on uneven terrain. Allow around 1 hour 45 minutes to complete the route at a steady pace.

What to expect
Uneven gravel surface with a consistently challenging gradient. The track winds through native forest with variable shade and exposure. Footing is rough in places and requires concentration. Signposting is basic, so navigation skills and attention are needed. Terrain is undulating rather than flat.
Good to know
Carry plenty of water — 2 litres minimum. Wear sturdy, well-gripped walking boots for ankle support on loose gravel. Summer heat and bushfire risk make cooler months ideal. Check fire danger ratings before heading out. The track is best suited to walkers with previous bushwalking experience and solid fitness.
