What to expect
Gravel underfoot with consistent, steep sections; expect sustained climbing rather than flat rambling. The track winds through tall karri and marri, offering dappled shade in places but exposed sections when overhead canopy opens. Signposting is standard; footing can be uneven after rain. Allow 2 hours 15 minutes for the full distance at a steady pace.
Good to know
Carry 2+ litres of water; there are no reliable sources on trail. Summer heat and bushfire risk mean avoid December–February or check fire danger before departure. Wear sturdy walking boots for grip on gravel and roots. Spring (Aug–Oct) is ideal for wildflowers and cooler conditions. Start early to finish in daylight.
