What to expect
Rough, unpaved track with significant elevation gain. Footing is uneven in places with exposed roots, rocks and ruts typical of forest tracks in this region. Sustained climbs will test fitness. Limited shade under forest canopy but exposure to weather on open sections. Track may be muddy or slippery after rain. Signposting is minimal; navigation skills and awareness required.
Good to know
Carry at least 2 litres of water and energy snacks. Wear sturdy, well-gripped walking boots. Start early to finish before dark. Check conditions after heavy rain. Summer heat and bushfire risk make this best tackled April–May or September–October. Mobile reception may be patchy; tell someone your plans.
