About this footpath

The Warren River Loop is a challenging 10 km bushwalk near Pemberton that follows the river through tall karri and marri forest. Unpaved throughout, this walk rewards effort with river views and old-growth woodland. Allow 2 hours 15 minutes and come prepared for uneven terrain and limited shade.

Highlights

  • Karri and marri forest in their element
  • Warren River views and creek crossings
  • Challenging unpaved terrain tests fitness
  • South-West forest character year-round

What to expect

Uneven unpaved track with exposed roots and occasional rocky sections. Gradient is variable with some steep pitches; not a flat stroll. Minimal signposting in places—navigation skills or a map useful. Limited shade under forest canopy, though tall trees provide some relief on hot days.

Good to know

Carry at least 1.5–2 litres of water and sun protection. Wear proper bushwalking boots with grip. Spring wildflower season (Aug–Oct) is pleasant; summer heat and bushfire risk make autumn–winter safer. Dogs not permitted in most forest reserves; check locally. Unpaved means muddy after rain.
